Summer of Cheer!

Every summer, United supporters all over the world wait for good signings to be made.......and yet every one stands disappointed at the end of the summer......... No one really understand why fergie is so reluctant to spend money given the unattarctive brand of football united has played over the past few years.......... For united standards, we have only seen glimpses of attacking play which havemade them the brand of football they are.......

Even if we are winning trophies, we avent been doing it in style.........the main reason being the lack of creativity in midfiled........and the lack of in flux of creativ and young talent.......... after letting chief creator ronaldo leave on a jaw dropping 80 million pound transfer to real madrid ferguson did prov he is a shred business man, but that did not do a lot of good for united as a team........

looking back at the past 5 or 6 transfer windows.......the one summer when fegie pulled out his purse was when h signed nani, anderson, hargreaves n tevez in the same season......... howver, they never blosommed right away.......Nanis inconsistency was a constant irritant while powerpacked anderson could not produce on a consistent basis as well..........hargreaves case was however unfortunate with tendonitis curtailing the involvement of one of the best defensive midfielders in the league..........eventually all the big signings came to nothing

the following summer fegie smashed the club record transfer fee by signing  the elegant dimitar berbatov  from spurs for 30 million pounds.......however, the then 28 year old failed to fit into uniteds system of play and became the reason for carlos tevez rotting on the bench inspite of his lung bursting displays in the red shirt......... the only rabbit fergie managed to pul out of the hat in recent years in chicharito who blosommed into a classic poacher in his first season........howevr, the youngster can still improv playin along side the pit bull wayne rooney....

After years of failure, fergie has moved quickly in the trasnfer market this summer to capture blackburn youngster phil jones, aston villa winger ashley young and spanish goalkeepr david degea........ spending 50 million pouns in no time on 3 signings di turn some heads......... including mine and finally brough a summer of cheer o united supporters........

howver, a central midfielde is yet to be signed and united supporters eagerly wait n watch as to what will happen........and whom will fegie sign..... with other areas more or less covered, e need a quality number 10.........with difficult situation around nasri, modric and sneider it remains to be seen what fergie does.........if he does manage to sign one good midfielder then it gives a good chance for united to retain the title next season!

A tribute to a true Genius!

Most people on the planet recognize Pele n maradona as the greatest footballers ever.....people with out a lot of awareness on the game tend to think they 2 are a class apart.....i feel otherwise. There are several other names which can definetly be placed along side pele n maradona.....Lionel Messi, C. Ronaldo, Luis Ronaldo, Zenedine Zidane, Johan Cryuff, Hristo Stoichkov, Alfredo de stefano..... the list goes on....Its Just that there are so many great players that have graced the game....

Above all these names i admire two people for being footballing geniuses....one is Duncan edwards n the other one was a handsome northern irishman who has done such thins which got audience across europe to edge of their seats when they saw him play.....His name was George Best.... His pace n awareness of the people around him was second to none...his trickery and intelligence can only be matched by lionel messi.... with the current footballs which are designed by adidas n nike tricks may be much easier...but even with the old n big footballs goergies step overs and dodging were eye catching.....

unlike pele n maradona georgie never got a chance to play in the world cup as northern ireland never qualified for it..... had that happened the history books and the perception of fans would have been different........... Gergie may not have won world cupsbut his talent n footballing mind r the best there was.... especially the old trafford faithfull will remember him n will name him as arguably the best player that evr graced the game!

Happy Birthday Georgie!

What's the point ?

Watched 3 derby games in a matter of 4 days.....one happened at wembley, the second one at Santiago bernabau....and last but not the least at white heart lane...... the passion, the intensity and the buzz is incomparable.... supporters from all over the world watch these games with interest.... compared to the century old leagues like the premiership n laliga the Indian premier league is still nascent..

One of the commentators dubbed the Mumbai-Pune game on par with the manchester derby! well, i was jus thinkin if it ever can be tht big.....with the existin set up of the IPL the answer is an unequivocal no....IPL is a big commercial success....but for me it's nothin but a circus...... Club football/cricket is all about loyalty of the supporters n how they relate to the club over a period of time..... BCCI's policy of having a player auction every 3 years and zuggling almost the entire team is jus not makin any sense to me...... The moment we  think of Man United names of a paul scholes,a david beckham and a  Ryan Giggs pop up in our minds.... every kid idolizes these personalities and this gives the history and identity to football clubs.........

talkin of loyalty n support who r the deccan chargers supporters supposes to idolize ? the concepts of not havin a youth system and the tournament itself played in a window cramped between national tours is hardly doing any good... While IPL was instrumental in bringin in young talents like Ravichandran ashwin, Paul Valthaty and a handful of others to the center stage - BCCI claiming IPL performances would not be considered as a basis for national team selections left me gobsmacked !

One positive in this debacle called IPL is givin a chance to youngsters n havin a limit of 4 foreign players for the playin 11..... but this isnt enough.....If the men in charge r really thinkin of doin good to indian cricket.....its important to invest in facilities to train youth....havin a club owned trainin ground n other facilities would help... if coaches start workin here through out the year in identifying and honin the skills of young talent that would do indian cricket a lot of good......European football clubs spend millions of dollars every year to help young talent.... IPL was designed on the basic blue print of the european football leagues but ended up as a commercial circus and failed to absorb any of the merits in the european leagues...Hope thins change in the future........ IPL should promote cricket n help the game instead of spinnin money n becomin the holy grail for cheerleaders !

The Training Camp!

Patrice Evra brandin arsenal a training camp caused an uproar.......it only made perfect sense to me....... wenger keeps his eyes open for young talent....... wilshere, walcott,Ramsey, fabregas, denilson....... such young n explosive names r usually not found on the same team sheet! but patrice is right coz arsenal din manage silverware since '04.

I do admire arsenal for playin attractive football......but winnin trophies is whats gonna count.... inconsistency n lack of belief have let arsenal down..... important players leavin the club at regular intervals has hurt em even more......fabregas is one of the most potent attackin midfielders in the world....but he is no patrick vieria... arsenal need a leader who can instil belief in em n drive em forward...

Wenger's reluctance to spend money to buy a quality goalkeeper n center back has cost arsenal the title.... with vermalen out n squilacchis under par n erraneous arsenal were never gonna win the title.... harry redknapp was right indeed.... stupid decisions by wenger n an old chelsea team have literally handed Man Utd the title inspite of bein underpar themselves

if wenger really plans to bring silverware to ashburton grove he needs to change his ways!

It's time......Fergie.......

Sir Alex Ferguson is the greatest manager in the history of the beautiful game...But, Can he go on for ever ? Absolutely not ! May be its time for him to hang up his boots...... You mus be thinkin why am i sayin this all of a sudden...... Fergie has this knack of findin great players from obscurity .....yes....he did find jewels like keane, solskear n chicharito....but he also has this knack of findin no body's who will never even get close to the level manchester united player and his relunctance to let them go is screwin up thins...... I think the current squad has too many no bodys n thats hurting united badly ! jus look at obertan, gibson, delaet n bebe......thts really  a waste of money...

barca bought ibrahim afellay for 3million euros n fegie the great has spent 10 million pounds in bringin low quality bebe n obertan........i jus don see the point in this kinda deals.... every single united fan on the planet knows that united needs a creative midfielder... n i jus don understand fergies decisions when he doesnt even try to sign quality players like ozil even after they express interest....

Ferguson is right when he says that the money spent on transfers these days is out of the world.... but why let ozil go when hes available for 11 million euros ? even with such a thin squad n playin football which is hardly gettin anybody to the edge of their seats, i am actually suprised united r still top of the table....  i jus feel ferguson's adamant behavior and stupid decisions in the transfer market r hurtin united....

i think the summer of 2011 will be a make a make or break for united....will scholes n giggs too old n the lack of quality in youngsters like gibson, obertan n bebe united have some serious buying to do with out which the future looks bleak.... for the first time i feel fans r concerned abt the squad rather than the mountin debt n tjhe ownership of glazers! n i think fergies decisions have been the reasn behind it........now that he has overtaken sir mat busby as the longest serving manager of united, its time for  fergie to hang up his boots n let somelike mourinho repair the damage and reinstill united as an attackin force they once were!
